She says she needs to let go of her childhood traumas before starting a family of her own.
Katy Perry has a big year coming up. She’s on tour, about to start American Idol, and work on new music. Safe to say, she has a TON on her plate. So, she says she needs to work on herself and mental health before taking on the strenuous task of having a family. And, to do that, she needs a “big soul overhaul.”
She told Glamour Magazine:
“I want to emotionally elevate myself. I don’t want to hold on to childhood trauma anymore. I want to grow into becoming an adult …. And that’s the thing: I want to do a little bit more soul surgery before I have a family of my own so that I don’t transfer any of those lingering feelings.”
She says she’s already started making progress by shutting off her phone once a week, exercising, eating healthy, and grabbing plenty of rest. But she says she still has a bit more to go. But, she’s in a lot better shape than she was back in her 20’s:
“A lot of my early twenties were really intense, really extreme, and somewhat unconscious. It was all career focused, which was great, but once you touch the ceiling so many times, it’s like, ‘Oh yeah, I did that. I touched the ceiling.’ Now I want to touch the stars, which has to do with the heart.”
Would you be interested in following Katy Perry’s example? Personally, if my job didn’t rely on my smartphone so much, I’d gladly go a day without using it! It sounds so freeing… until you have to turn it back on and see all the emails/texts/voice mails you missed…
