They have much to celebrate because their song, Rockabye, earned over 1 BILLION views on YouTube. That’s their biggest song to date!
Not bad for a classical band that got struck with inspiration one random night. Clean bandit formed in 2008 in Cambridge, England, and toyed around with mixing classical music and elecro-pop. The band consists of Grace Chatto, and brothers Jack and Luke Patterson.
They first got our attention with their song “Rather Be” with Jess Glynne. Honestly, it was a type of music no one really heard before. But, considering how people react to strings (Call Me Maybe, anyone?) it was guaranteed to blow up. And it did! It reached #10 on the Billboard Hot 100 and won a Grammy, but then the songs that followed after were what truly defined the band.
“Rockabye” with Anne-Marie became an instant hit due to its emotionally charged lyrics and summer-sounding sway. Plus, teaming up with Sean Paul was a super smart move. That song soared to #9 on the Billboard charts.
But now the buzz seems to be over their new song, Symphony, which has yet to be released in the United States. But, according to reviews, this song is even more emotionally charged and gorgeous. Can’t wait until it makes its way onto Star 99.9!
They sold over 13 million singles and 1.6 million albums worldwide.
