She’s one of the biggest artists to play a Michael’s Jewlers Acoustic Session and one of the only ones to perform one TWICE! Yep, Rachel Platten is a mega-star with a voice of an angel and a disarming warm smile.
However, she didn’t find success when she was young. In fact, she began trying the music thing in 2011, which did not go as planned. She released 2 independent albums before finally gaining the attention of Columbia Records. They signed her and, in 2015, she roared to life with her massive hit “Fight Song.” The song was a sleeper hit and didn’t reach it’s huge status until a year later when cancer survivors used it as their official anthem.
Her debut album, Wildfire, also produced hits Stand By You and Better Place. It sold enough albums to be certified gold and earned her plenty of airtime on several morning shows. She even won a Daytime Emmy for her performance of “Fight Song” on Good Morning America!
Her follow-up album, Waves, didn’t do as well as Wildfire, but it did produce the hit “Broken Glass,” which is about shattering the glass ceiling.
Also, did you know she graduated from Trinity College? She was aTrinitone! The school’s all-female acapella group! Fun CT connection right there!
