The highest grossing movie of all time is James Cameron’s Avatar, but it might be in jeopardy now that Avengers: Infinity War crossed the $2B mark a little over a month into its theatrical release.
Infinity War now joins Avatar ($2.78 billion), Titanic ($2.18 billion) and Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($2.06B) in the super exclusive $2 Billion club. This is now Marvel’s top earning film, defeating their first Avengers movie from 2012, which earned $1.5B.
But the big question is… will Infinity War become the new top grossing movie of all time?
While Avatar crossed the $2B mark after 45 days of release, Infinity War also crossed that finish line 48 days after its release, so it could go either way. It all comes down to the summer box office and if any other powerful movies steal its thunder.
Do you think anyone can beat Avatar?
