How can so much talent be stuffed inside such a tiny person? She’s barely 5 feet tall! But, you’d never know it considering she walks around in 6 inch stilettos nearly every second of the day.
Ariana Grande is a vocal chameleon, an amazing actress, a witty comedian, and a powerful singer. That’s why she first broke out in Broadway in 2008, when she was cast in the musical 13. Later, she was discovered by Nickelodeon who cast her for the show, Victorious. But her character became so popular, becoming bigger than the show’s central character, Victoria Justice, that she was given her own spinoff. Sam & Cat became a ratings titan, but ended in 2014 due to creative differences and salary disputes. But Ariana knew what she wanted to do… go solo. That’s where her heart was.
Then again, critics constantly compared her vocal range to that of Mariah Carey, so she definitely knew she had something to work with. Her first studio album, Yours Truly, made it to the Billboard 200 in 2013 and produced the hit single, “The Way.”
A year later, Ariana came out with “My Everything,” which included hits such as “Break Free,” “One Last Time,” and “Problem.” Problem continues to be one of her best-selling singles to date and one of her most popular songs.
In 2016, she released “Dangerous Woman,” an album she was originally wanted to call “Moonlight”. She also planned on making the lead single off the track “Focus,” but after recording “Dangerous Woman” she decided to make that the crown jewel on her new tiara.
Ariana has over 9 billion views on YouTube, 3 American Music Awards, 3 MTV Europe Music Awards, an MTV VMA, and four Grammy nominations. On top of that, she has the rare honor of having all three of her albums reach certified-platinum status by the RIAA.
Now we know why she been named one of Time’s “Most Influential” people.
