Today's Star brought to you by Key Hyundai
It’s been a great year for British music artists. Ed Sheeran’s second album, Sam Smith’s debut, and Coldplay’s new music, are just a few examples of how the U.K. has dominated the music scene over the past year. British band Bastille is no different. They shot to fame this past year after the 2013 release of their debut album, Bad Blood. “Pompeii” is the fourth single off that album and it is one of the most successful songs of the year. It was featured on the television show Glee, reached number 5 on the Billboard Chart top 200 chart, and was nominated for single of the year at the BRIT Awards. It is, also, just a really good song.
Bastille was formed in 2010 by lead singer Dan Smith. Dan originally just wanted to pursue a solo project, but realized forming a band was a better idea. They are doing very well considering how new they are, and have been touring all summer. They’re actually going on a fall tour and will be playing at Radio City Music Hall in New York City October 9th and 10th.
The band is anxious to make new music too. They’ve already been recording in the studio and will complete it once they have the time. Problem is, they have a very busy touring schedule. Supposedly, they want to finish their next album and release it by winter 2015. Dan Smith has said this next album will be heavy on the electronic guitar with some hip-hop/R & B influences.
