Founded in 1989, SoundWaters is the leading environmental educational organization on Long Island Sound. Its mission is to educate children and adults about the wonders and beauty of Long Island Sound and its watershed. Through education, SoundWaters provides people with an understanding and awareness of the changes they can make in their lives and communities to restore, protect, and preserve Long Island Sound and the environment. Programs take place at the Coastal Education Center in Cove Island Park in Stamford, Connecticut; on SoundWaters, an 80' three-masted schooner; at schools, community centers and field sites in the region.

The Discovery Museum has three floors of hands-on science fun with High-Definition movies, and daily Planetarium shows, all included with admission to the museum. Their first class educational programs and Connecticut's only Challenger Learning Center make the Museum a can't-be-missed attraction, for classes, camps, and kids everywhere.

The Fairfield Community Theatre Foundation is a nonprofit organization that operates a 1920 landmark movie theater in downtown Fairfield, presenting mostly independent and second-run films. Ticket and snack prices are kept low, partly because the theater is staffed almost entirely by volunteer teenagers and run partly on donations. The foundation runs several film-related programs for seniors, mothers and youth. It also provides direct financial and promotional support to other local nonprofit organizations.

The Garbage Museum

CRRA is committed to educating the residents of the state in solid waste disposal and recycling. Want to see where your garbage and recyclables go? Visit the CRRA Trash Museum in Hartford and the Garbage Museum in Stratford to explore ways you, your families and classrooms can help reduce garbage. Join approximately 50,000 children and adults who visit each year to learn how reducing, re-using and recycling our trash can impact the waste stream and protect the environment. Through hands-on exhibits, interactive activities and award winning educational programs, students of all ages discover that they hold the key to a successful solid waste management program!

The mission of The Barnum Museum's Education Department is to assist children of all ages in understanding the life and times of the world's greatest showman, P. T. Barnum! This goal is accomplished through museum tours, hands-on programs, slide show presentations, lectures and museum exhibitions. The Barnum Museum's School Programs offer students a wide variety of educational activities. Children will study the art of clowning, explore P. T. Barnum's amazing advertising skills, or work on an assembly line building old-time toys and learning about the lives of 19th Century factory workers.
