NADA MARIE ANID, Ph.D.Recipient, "2013 Outstanding Advocate for Science & Technology Award"The Science Museum of Long Island recently named Nada Marie Anid, Ph.D. as a recipient of a 2013 OUTSTANDING ADVOCATE FOR SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY AWARD.  Dr. Anid will be honored on Wednesday, February 6th at the Westbury Manor for her outstanding contributions toward the advancement and education of science and technology. Please help support Dr. Anid in her goal to raise a minimum of $1,000 for this important fundraiser.Proceeds support the Science Museum of Long Island's programs and services for the children and families of the region! A summary of Dr. Anid's impressive list of accomplishments:Nada Marie Anid, Ph.D., is the first female dean of NYIT's School of Engineering and Computing Sciences, overseeing 77 engineering and computing sciences faculty members and approximately 1,700 graduate and undergraduate students at campuses located in Manhattan and Old Westbury, N.Y., the Middle East, and China.Anid embraces NYIT’s forward-thinking and applications-oriented mission and is working on several strategic partnerships between the School of Engineering and the public and private sector, including the creation of the School’s first Entrepreneurship and Technology Innovation Center and its three labs in the critical areas of IT & Cyber Security, Bio-engineering and Health, and Energy and Green Technologies. She was named a top 50 woman in business on Long Island by LIBN in 2010 and 2012. She also received the 2010 Long Island Software and Technology Network (LISTnet) Diamond Award for significant contributions toward the advancement of women in technology on Long Island and her professional achievements in the technology field.  Anid is a board member of several organizations including the Greater Long Island Clean Cities Coalition, LISTnet, the Institute for Sustainability of the American Institute for Chemical Engineers (AIChE), the Riverdale Conservancy, and the Environment and Public Health Network of Chinese Students and Scholars (ENCSS). She earned her Ph.D. in environmental engineering from the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor), and bachelor’s and master’s degrees in chemical engineering from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH-Stockholm).
