John Mayer has had quite the career thus far. If you didn't know by now, John was born in Bridgeport and raised in Fairfield, CT. John attended Fairfield High School and enrolled in the "Japanese Program" at Brien McMahon High School in Norwalk. I can tell you his favorite teacher at BMHS was Ms. Paganini. She kept a photo of her and John in the classroom and told me John gave her tickets and backstage passes to his shows frequently. Yeah, I was beyond jealous of my Chemistry teacher.
After high school, John attended Berklee College of Music in Boston. He said he became fascinated with the guitar after watching Michael J. Fox's performance in Back To The Future, and when he was 13 years old his father rented him one. He received commercial success after the release of his first full-length alum, Room For Squares. John Mayer's third studio album is my ultimate favorite from him and some of his best work.
Continuum, released in 2006 earned John the Grammys for "Best Pop Vocal Album" and "Best Male Pop Vocal Performance" for Waiting On The World To Change. Yes, he won in the "pop" categories, but Continuum really shows Mayer's turn of direction with genres. The album is soulful with sincere lyrics. You can tell his musical influences played a role with songs like I Don't Trust Myself (With Loving You) and Vultures. Each song on that album effortlessly flows into the next. Not to mention his cover of Jimi Hendrix's classic, Bold As Love is flawless. John Mayer always had catchy, well-written lyrics, but with this album his guitar skills really shine!
Since then, John has released several live albums, three studio ones and "John Mayer: The Collection" which contains 5 albums-a mix of his live and studio recordings. His latest single is a love song he wrote for Katy Perry, titled Who You Love. John mayer will be in Bridgeport for a show on Dec. 16th! Playing Webster Bank Arena with Phillip Phillips and there are still seats left! Below-----> 5 random facts about John you may not know, along with a live video showing off those guitar skills.
