Today's Star: Fitz and the Tantrums
Today's Star is brought to you by:
Fitz and the Tantrums. Know them? If not, don't feel bad, The band has only been around for the last five years. BUT - for a band that has only been performing and releasing songs for five years, they have made a BANG in the music industry.
Fitz and the Tantrums were founded by lead singer Michael Fitzpatrick in 2008. Fitz one day randomly bought an electronic organ and was determined to write a song that day using the instrument. He called his old college friend, James King (their saxophonist)and James recommended Noelle Scaggs (singer and only female in the group)..and so forth. Fitz said,"It was literally like five phone calls, one rehearsal, and we could have played a show that night." The band instantly clicked and released their first album in January of 2011. FATT describe their music as soul-influenced indie pop.
They visited CT twice this year! They opened up for Bruno Mars when he came to Mohegan Sun, and they played with Capital Cities in October at the Oakdale Theatre in Wallingford!
**Fun side note --The band has a cyber week sale right now on their website: fitandthetantrums.com
