Sara Bareilles-maybe it's just me but when I think of Sara, "girl next door" and "cute as a button" comes to mind! In all the interviews I watched, she's a goofy, fun, laid back girl living her dream! She doesn't seem to take herself too seriously which is refreshing! Sara stems from sunny California where she grew up singing in her school choir and participating in the local community theatre productions. She attended UCLA where she joined the co-ed a cappella group, Awaken A Cappella. Impressive, Sara taught herself how to play piano, as well as guitar, ukulele and harmonium!
She hit mainstream success in 2007 with a little song called Love Song. Maybe you've heard of it? It reached number 1 on the Billboard Pop charts and made Sara a household name! Well, a household name that people have trouble saying. Sara said she's been introduced on stage maaanyy times by people who mispronounce her last name. She finds the humor :)
Last year Sara released her fourth studio album, The Blessed Unrest and it was well received from the critics (and fans!) It's up for Album of the Year for the Grammy's this Sunday night! The first single from that album, Brave, was co-written with Fun. guitarist, Jack Antonoff. Sara says Brave was inspired by her own life and addressed some of the demons she was battling. "I have never felt more open and more raw in my entire life." I love the song and it's message! Sara crashed Taylor Swift's Red Tour to perform the song, Check out below!
Ps - Stay tuned for the theatrical adaptation of "Waitress" featuring songs from Sara!
