It's Fun with a period, not an exclamation point. That's the first thing I noticed about the band was their name. It's fitting because their lyrics aren't exactly "fun," they're heartfelt and meaningful..but put next to catchy and "fun" beats so it works. Fun members are: Nate Ruess, Andrew Dost and Jack Antonoff. They formed around 2008 after Nate's previous band, The Format took a hiatus.
Fun. have released two albums: Aim and Ignite in 2009 and Some Nights in 2012. I think we pretty much know how big of a success Some Nights has been for the band. The first single off the album (We Are Young) has crossed formats over the airwaves, hit #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts, and pretty much was the anthem for teens that year. It won the award for Song of the Year at the Grammys! Fun. also took home the Grammy for Best New Artist. Well deserved! Some Nights was a massive record and one of my top 3 from 2012.
They finished their Some Nights tour by playing their last show at Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport. As much as I love Fun., I was a bit skeptical of how much "fun" the show would actually be. Well, it was phenomenal and they guys blew me away. Guitars were thrown, amps were used as trampolines and the energy was nonstop throughout! They even covered a Rolling Stones song in the middle, it was a fantastic show! Nate and the guys said that they are going to start working on a new album after the new year, yay for us!
