I remember when Kesha first released Tik Tok. Everyone was taken aback. Some people loved it, others disliked the outspoken song, and some just wanted to know why she was “brushing her teeth with a bottle of Jack”. Either way, Kesha made waves when she appeared on the music scene in 2010. Four years later, Kesha has released another album and gone on a bunch of tours. She is also a huge collaborator with other artists. Her most recently popular song was “Timber” with Pitbull.
Kesha has released a lot of hit songs. “Your Love is My Drug”, “Tik Tok”, “Blow”, “Take it Off”, “We R Who We R”, “Crazy Kids”, and “Die Young”. That’s very impressive considering she has only released two albums. Most artists only have a couple hit songs off their albums.
She was born in Los Angeles, but grew up in Nashville with her songwriter mother. Her mom has always been a huge supporter of her. She pushed Kesha to develop her talent and succeed in the music industry. Starting out, Kesha sang background vocals on a lot of artists’ songs: Britney Spears, Katy Perry, Paris Hilton, and Flo Rida. She finally got her chance to go solo a couple years later. Her first single, “Tik Tok” is one of the best selling digital songs of all time.
Unfortunately, Kesha is young and dealing with some demons in her life. She had to cancel her tour in late 2013 because she needed to get some help to deal with body image issues. Kesha has returned healthier and happier. She used to go by “Ke$ha” but has since dropped the dollar sign to just be herself, Kesha. She also revamped her look to a more classic appearance. Looks like Kesha is just growing into her own skin and is enjoying being the person she is. If you want to catch her on TV, she is one of the judges on ABC’s “Rising Star”, appearing alongside Ludacris and Brad Paisley.
