American Idol winners sometimes have a hard time succeeding after the show ends. Carrie Underwood is not an example of that. She was crowned America’s choice on the 4th season of the show and since then has been inducted into the the Oklahoma Music Hall of Fame, won numerous awards (including 6 Grammy Awards), and gained a Golden Globe nomination.
It was pretty easy for America to fall in love with Carrie. She’s beautiful, talented, and has a cute Southern accent (grew up in Oklahoma). She is mostly a country music artist, but a lot of her songs have achieved mainstream success. “Before He Cheats” is a huge example of that. That song is off her 2005 debut album, Some Hearts. Her first album did extremely well, solidifying her as more than just an American Idol winner, but an actual singer in the music industry. If you’ve never heard “Before He Cheats”, you should defiantly have a listen. Many women use it as their personal anthem, and it’s pretty much just a female empowerment song. Carrie also just has an incredible voice. There is a reason she won American Idol and that’s because she really does just have a natural talent.
After her debut in 2005, she has released 3 more albums and gone on numerous tours. She also got married to a hockey player and is involved with a lot of charities across the U.S. I guess that’s why she is referred to as “America’s Sweetheart”.
Just last week there have been a TON of rumors that Carrie might be the next halftime act for the upcoming Super Bowl in 2015. Of course, those are just rumors, but they may be true and we’ll just have to wait to find out if it’s actually happening.
