There's no denying that Lorde has probably had the best year ever- her song Royals was heard and played almost everywhere, and it won her two Grammy's, including Song of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance. The song was number one on the charts for nine weeks in a row, and Rolling Stone Magazine called it the 2nd best song of the year. It's funny that Royals put Lorde on the map, because she eventually confessed to "being sick of the song", since it was played so heavily.
Lorde is a 17 year old girl from New Zealand. Her actual name is Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O'Connor. She took singing and drama classes when she was little and was signed to Universal Records when she was 13 years old. She decided to go as "Lorde" because she has always been fascinated with royalty, especially the British Monarchy.
No doubt Lorde has a long music career ahead of her. Her two songs after Royals, Team and Tennis Court, have became hits as well. The entire album Pure Heroine is actually really good, in my opinion.
Lorde wrapped up her summer tour and is working on her next album. She said her next album will be "completely different than her first". She also had a huge role in the soundtrack for the new Hunger Games movie. She helped with the orgaizatoin of it and contributed to a lot of the music on it.
