Mother-of-Two From Mississippi Hopes To Be The NFL's First Female Ref
We have yet to see a female enter the NFL as a player, but we may be on the verge of seeing the first ever female official in the league pretty soon.
Sarah Thomas, a mother-of-two from Mississippi, drove all the way to Indianapolis for Colts mini-camp, to participate in the NFL's officiating development program --hoping to become the first permanent female official in the NFL.
Once she completes the development program, she could pursue her career on the field as soon as a current official retires or leaves, and a spot becomes available. This could happen as early as 2014.
Sarah is a pharmaceutical saleswoman by day and has already made history back in 2007 when she became the first female ever to officiate an NCAA football game.
