Today's Star brought to you by Key Hyundai
Pharrell Williams is definitely someone who you could call a modern “renaissance man”. He is a singer, songwriter, producer, fashion designer, and artist. He is behind some of the biggest songs in music including, but not limited to: Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines”, and “Sing” from Ed Sheeran. He also has two of his own solo albums, and albums from the music groups he belongs to: N.E.R.D. and The Neptunes.
Pharrell grew up in Virginia and was heavily involved in his school’s band. He formed the music group The Neptunes after graduating. Pharrell just has a natural talent for music and kept releasing hit songs. The Neptunes even helped produce Britney Spears’ famous hit, “I’m a Slave 4 U”. His two music groups did moderately well in the charts, but most of their success came from producing other artists. It really wasn’t until he came out with “Happy” did he score a number one song. Happy was also featured in the Despicable 2 movie which nabbed him an Academy Award nomination.
I really love how Pharrell has come out with music that is completely different than anything else you hear in the industry. He is constantly evolving his sound and that’s exactly what makes it always so fresh and innovative. There are big rumors going around that Katy Perry wants Pharrell to join her on stage at the Super Bowl Halftime Show. That would be amazing!
