Trending this Week: Rihanna & Calvin Harris

FourFiveSeconds - Rihanna, Kanye West, & Paul McCartney

Kanye West wanted to keep this song for his album, but after he let Rihanna listen to it, she demanded to be a part of it, and demanded to have it on her new, upcoming album. Kanye let Rihanna have her way, and the two of them were honored to be making music with Beatles legend, Paul McCartney. Kanye is also executive producing her next album, so it’s a win-win on both sides.

This will be Rihanna’s 8th studio album and I’m pretty excited about it  because I think it will be much different than her past music. When you listen to “FourFiveSeconds”, you can tell Rihanna is maturing into a different musical stage. The song has a folk-pop-rock sound and Rihanna’s singing is strong, soft, and feminine. It’s very catchy and a great first single to get the excitement going for her new album, which will come out later this year.

Blame - Calvin Harris & John Newman

Calvin Harris is a bonafide hit maker. He is the English electronic music DJ behind the hits: Summer, I Need Your Love with Ellie Goulding, Sweet Nothing with Florence Welch, Feel So Close, Outside with Ellie Goulding, and his newest one, Blame with John Newman. John Newman is an up and coming English singer-songwriter who gave us the song, Love Me Again in late 2013. John has a phenomenal voice and when you match it with Calvin’s amazing DJ talent, you get an addictive, dance hit.

Blame has been very successful internationally and is just starting to catch fire in the mainstream U.S. music world. It was already number one on the electronic dance chart and it’s slowly creeping up the top 40 Chart. It’s no doubt that you will hear it a lot more as the year goes on.
