Music You Should Know - Dance Your Troubles Away
0 0

Lady Gaga doesn't want you to pay attention to the ills of the world if you don't want to.

Lady Gaga - The Cure

Just like "Million Reasons," this song is slow, melodic, and catchy as heck. Although, this new single definitely has more of a summer jam vibe than Million Reasons.   She debuted this song at Coachella to rave reviews, so she quickly released it right after.  She wrote this song with DJ White Shadow and he mused that the reason this song came into being is because:

"There's so much terrible stuff going on in the world right now, it's like when you're a creative person you do your best to try and combat evil with creative stuff, so that was kind of the vibe"

Lyrically, the song explores Gaga's love she has for her fans, so that's why she takes on a more protector-like facade for this song.  However, when introducing this song for the first time, she told her fans.

"I love you guys so much. I have been through so much in my life and I’ve seen so much. And you cure me every time with your love.

So, I guess this song can be applied both ways.  True, the world is a mess, but at least we have each other.

The Revivalists - Wish I Knew You

This band is so stinkin' cool, I am beyond happy they broke into the mainstream.  The Revivalists are a 7-piece band from New Orleans who play all different instruments including the saxophone and the trumpet.  They infuse folk, blues, and jazz into all their music, so you'll definitely want to dance after listening to their funky music.  The lead singer has kind of an Adam Levine sound to his voice, too.

So, imagine a Maroon 5... but more southern and less pop.  And then blend that together with intonations you get with The Lumineers, Mumford & Sons, and Of Monsters and Men. Honestly, their music is addicting.  There's always so much going on in them, but it's not distracting or overwhelming.

“Wish I Knew You" was the number one alternative song in the country last week.  Then, it crossed over, which is a feat you really don't see that often.  Although, that may be credited to a recent Blue Moon commercial that uses that song.
