State police reach out to women

Cops hold workshops for women who want to join

(WTNH) - Connecticut State Police are helping women who are looking to get into law enforcement.  They're holding several informational workshops geared toward women looking to break into the field.

Aspiring women heard from others who are already wearing badges and some of them explained what motivated them to attend today.

"Team oriented. I played hockey at UConn.  So, it's a great atmosphere that I would love to be in.  It's challenging," said Bridget King of Worcester, Massachusetts.

"It gives you lots of information about what they are doing, how much they enjoy doing their jobs, because it's something they love to do.  And they've been doing it for so many years," said a Bridgeport woman named Astrid.

A workshop set for Nov. 19 at 5:30 p.m.  You can reserve your seat by calling the Connecticut State Police selection Unit at (860) 685-8490.
