A woman who was brutally mauled by her friend's Chimpanzee is filing a claim that would allow her to sue the state of Connecticut, saying officials knew the animal that lived in a residential home was a ticking time bomb.

Charla Nash told WABC that officials knew the 200-pound Chimpanzee, named Travis, was dangerous after he ran through downtown Stamford, CT and didn't do anything about it — until it was too late.

"It was an accident waiting to happen," one state employee wrote after Nash's attack, according to the report.

A family spokesman told the Daily News that Nash is filing a complaint with the claims commission to start the process, but is concerned that it will be denied for political reasons.

A lawsuit cannot be filed until the commissioner, who is appointed by the state’s Governor, allows it to go forward.  More... (Source: NY Daily News)
