TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Connecticut brewery gets national press for their unique concept

Living here in Connecticut we are lucky to have so many great restaurants, breweries, vineyards, and places to go here in the states. One of them being Athletic Brewing Company in Stratford, who specializes in brewing non-alcoholic beer. They opened about 4 years ago and now are getting some national recognition.

They have been named one of TIME100’s Most Influential Companies of 2022! If you haven’t tried their beer before it’s really good and worth the trip.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: What is all that red juice in your meat container?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: What is all that red juice in your meat container?

If you’ve purchased any sort of red meat from the grocery store recently you’ve probably noticed all he “red juice” around the meat inside the container. I always just assume this was blood from the meat… it’s actually not at all!

In fact, almost all the blood is removed during processing of the meat.  It’s actually a mixture of water and a protein called myoglobin that you are seeing.

Interesting.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Is Olive Oil really considered juice?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Is Olive Oil really considered juice?

I’m not sure why, but this fact blew my mind when I read it. I use olive oil pretty regularly. Cooking, with salads, dressings, all the time! But this never crossed my mind.

Olive Oil is actually considered a “fruit juice”. The reason being, olives are a fruit so by definition olive oil is fruit juice.

I just can’t imagine drinking it straight up out of a glass for some reason.
