MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Where does the word “phony” come from?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Where does the word “phony” come from?

The word “phony” when you’re referring to someone or something as being fake comes from a shortened version of the word “telephone”.  Older phones had such bad audio quality that it would make people’s voices sound fake.

I feel like this sounds like a “phony” explanation (haha)… but it’s true!

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: One dad takes the school bus driver shortage into his own hands

You’ve probably heard by now that there is a school bus driver shortage across the country. Some parents are getting creative with how they are getting their kids to school.

Like this dad in Columbus, Ohio who started taking his kids and their friends to school in a STRETCH LIMO! Apparently his family owns a limousine service, so he borrowed one for the early morning trip.  Last Monday he took 25 kids to school and then 42 on Tuesday! Those kids must’ve felt very fancy rolling up to the front of that school.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why do ghosts say “boo”?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why do ghosts say “boo”?

Halloween is 20 days away and between now and the 31st you will hear and see a lot of ghosts saying “BOO”. But why? And where did that come from?

The Oxford English Dictionary says that the term “boo” came from the Latin term boare and the Greek word boaein which mean “to cry aloud, roar, shout.” So when Halloween comes and you hear a ghost try to be scary and say “boo,” just remember that by definition they are saying “I’m yelling,” which is hilarious and very Casper like.
