TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Woman reunited with photos 13 years after losing digital camera

As someone who remembers the pre-smartphone era of digital cameras I would love to see some of those old memory cards or even deposable cameras I had back in college and high school.

For this one woman she was able to experience exactly that.

13 years ago she was tubing on a river in Colorado when her digital camera fell off and into the water. Gone forever she assumed. Fast forward to present day and she was contacted recently online by a gentlemen who FOUND the camera! He was fishing in that same river and happened to come across it in the water. He checked the memory card and sure enough there were still photos intact. From there he tracked her down on social media and will be mailing it back to her.

Now, is there a little but of a “One Hour Photo Robin Williams” vibe about finding and looking at these photos? Sure, maybe. But at least he’s sending it back and doing the right thing! She has to be super excited to see what’s on there.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Cats only meow at humans. Wait, WHAT?!

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Cats only meow at humans. Wait, WHAT?!

As someone who’s never been a cat person this came as a legit shock to me when I read this today.

Apparently adult cats only “meow” at humans, not other cats. Now, when they are kittens they meow at their mother when they’re first born… but after that? Only humans.

Something I truly never realized until today. Fascinating.

Somewhere all the dogs reading this are like “What? Really? I bark at everything!”

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Man with autism inspires many with new business start-up

If you’ve ever thought about following your passion project or an idea you’ve had this story will definitely help with a little inspiration.

Marcus Moore is 29 years old, lives in Maryland, and has autism.  He has been determined to not let that stop him from becoming a successful business owner.

After working at gorcery stores for years he decided it was time to start his own business. He approached his dad explaining this was a way for him to make enough money to be self sufficient one day. His parents agreed and have been helping him start a pretzel business since last fall. He named it
“Moore Crunch” (great name!) and already has a bunch of stores carrying the product in his area.

He’s also selling them online at MooreCrunch.com. Best of luck to Marcus and his new venture.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why does squinting help you see better?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why does squinting help you see better?

If you sat in the back of the class and needed glasses you were probably always squinting. Even though it probably isn’t good for you it did work. But why does it work exactly?

The reason is that the lens on the front of your eye is constantly changing shape in order to focus on objects that are near or far away. When you squint it lets you eye reshape even more bringing everything into focus.

If you are always squinting you probably need to get your eyes checked, but that’s why it works.
