TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Group of students help their favorite janitor in a big way

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Group of students help their favorite janitor in a big way

I love stories like this one. Just shows how much of a connection students can have with people who work at their school.

At this school in Texas their 80-year-old high school janitor recently retired. But then the place where he lives raised his rent by $400 more a month. He approached the school about coming back to work so he could afford his rent. Once student caught wind of this they decided to step up and help him out.

And boy did they. In a big way. They started a GoFunMe campaign which has now raised over $200,000 so he can enjoy his retirement and still afford his rent. Unbelievable!

Tiffany and Patrick leased a car for their son when he turned 18 years ago, but Patrick feels strongly that they should not do the same for their daughter. Patrick says that she doesn’t apply herself academically like her brother did, she has had several fender benders, and overall isn’t as responsible as her brother was at that age. Tiffany disagrees, what you do for one child, you must do for both. She thinks that Patrick needs to understand that all children aren’t the same, but they have to offer both the same perks. What do you think?  (31:23)

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: 10-year-old girl write first music composition, goes viral thanks to Mom

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: 10-year-old girl write first music composition, goes viral thanks to Mom

It’s fairly common to see kids who are super talented at playing instruments, but you don’t always see a kid writing their own music compositions.

That’s what 10 year old Olive Wallace from Pennsylvania did recently. Olive plays the violin, but also just wrote her first music sheet music as an original composition. Her Mom was so proud of her that she posted the sheets to see if any musicians would give it a try and tell them how it is.

And boy did they. It started to go viral on TikTok with musicians from all over the world giving their take on performing it. Even Seattle Pacific University performed with their full string orchestra!

Here is the Mom and daughter reacted to it:

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Do roosters hear themselves when they crow?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Do roosters hear themselves when they crow?

If you’ve ever heard a rooster crow early in the morning (shout out to all my farmers out there!) you know how loud it can be. People have actually measured the sound and it’s hit as high as 140 decibels which can be extremely damaging to the ears and hearing.

If it can do that to our ears, what about the roosters themselves?!

Well, one of the things researchers discovered was that when the bird opens their jaw to crow, their outer ear canals actually close up on their own, giving them sort of a natural earplug.

Nature, right? Crazy!
