TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Student putting a golf ball on a basketball court leads to new car!

I’m admittedly a sucker for any videos of people winning contest during sporting events. Half court shots, kicking field goals, slap shots, all of it. So this story definitely caught my eye.

Last weekend a student at Auburn University during their game against Alabama they had a contest where someone had to putt a golf ball the length of the court. This one kid stepped up, grabbed the putter and proceeded to make the full-court PUTT! 94 feet to be exact and he drained it! Crowd goes wild. What a feeling. It was all sponsored by a local Toyota dealership so he won a new car. Which is nice because as a college student he didn’t have a car at all.

Here’s the video of the put

Here’s what it looked like from another angle, and his interview after he won.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: When did people start giving chocolate for Valentine’s Day?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: When did people start giving chocolate for Valentine’s Day?

Happy Valentine’s Day! I hope you eat all the chocolate today. If you’re enjoying those delicious bites of heart shaped chocolatey goodness wondering why we give chocolate for Valentine’s day, I have the answer.

It started when Richard Cadbury, the son of Cadbury founder John Cadbury, decided they needed to fancy up the boxes the sold chocolate in to help sales. He then came up with the first hear-shaped box of chocolates as part of a Valentine’s Day promotion in 1861. They’ve been selling them ever since. Now they estimate more than 36 million heart-shaped boxes are sold every year. Which equals about 58 million pounds of chocolate.

Yum!

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Here is where all the losing team’s Super Bowl merch goes

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Here is where all the losing team’s Super Bowl merch goes

Congrats to the Kansas City Chiefs on winning Super Bowl LVII Sunday night. Sorry to all the Eagles fans. What a game.

If you didn’t know, they NFL has to make “Super Bowl Champion” merch for both teams so they have it ready to give to the winning team’s players. For years people have speculated what they do with the losing team’s shirts and hats since it immediately becomes irrelevant.

To make sure it doesn’t go to waste there is a charity group called Good360 who handles all the donations of the clothing. Over the years they have sent the items to help people in areas like Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. Which they will do again this year. A great cause.

Though, it is kind of humorous to me that somewhere there are groups of people who have a false sense of past Super Bowl history Champions.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: What’s up with the grass at the Super Bowl?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: What’s up with the grass at the Super Bowl?

You’ve probably heard about the grass during the Super Bowl last night. A lot of players were slipping and complaining about the turf. So what was up with the grass anyway?

For the past two years The NFL has been developing this new grass for last night’s Super Bowl. The grass was grown at a local sod farm in Phoenix right near the site of the game.

Seems like they should’ve picked a game that wasn’t the biggest one of the year to test out this new grass.
