You might remember that crazy blizzard Buffalo last month where people were snowed into their homes and buildings. There was a guy who was stranded in his car and managed to find a nearby school where he broke in and helped 24 other people find shelter from the elements.
As a thank you the Buffalo Bills are giving him 2 tickets to the Super Bowl in Arizona next month! Here’s the video of former Bill Thurman Thomas surprising him with the tickets. Hopefully the Bills make it to the big game to make this story even more memorable!
Lots of football lately with some great Wild Card games last weekend (congrats Giants fans) and then the Super Bowl only a few weeks away. Even if you’re not a huge football fan you can probably enough some tasty wings while watching. But when did wings become so associated with watching football?
It really started back around 1979 with the invention of Satellite Television. More and more people were watching games at restaurants and bars for extended periods of time. The usual bar nuts, pretzels and popcorn weren’t enough to hold people over. Things like pizza and ribs were too heavy and filling, so chicken wings became the perfect solution. Cheap, easy to make, and just filling enough to hold you over while you watch your favorite team win or lose.

This group of 5th graders in Minneapolis recently started raising money to improve their playground so it could be inclusive to kids with disabilities. Their goal for the changes was $300,000, which they have already hit thanks to many anonymous donors. They are now trying to raise even more money to upgrade more playgrounds at other schools.
We’ve all heard it before. “I’ll be back in a jiffy!”. But what does jiffy really mean? Is it a real measurement? At one point yes it was.
It is technically one trillionth of a second. Back in the 18th and 19th centuries there was a scientist named Gilbert Newton Lewis who figured out that a jiffy was the amount of time it takes light to travel one centimeter in a vacuum. Which is about about 33.4 picoseconds. Or one trillionth of a second.
