TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Ridgefield High School student one of few worldwide to get perfect score on AP test

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Ridgefield High School student one of few worldwide to get perfect score on AP test

It always feels good to get a good grade on a test. But a PERFECT SCORE?! That’s very impressive. Even more so when you’re one of the few in the world to do it.

Ryan Williams is a senior at Ridgefield High School. He recently was one of 369 students in the world to get a perfect score on the Computer Science Advanced Placement Test. There were 77,434 kids who took it throughout the world. Pretty impressive stuff.

Ryan says after he graduates he plans to go to college for a Bachelor’s degree in computer science and software engineering. I’m pretty sure he will have his pick on what schools he wants to go to after this accomplishment.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why does Amazon use huge boxes for little items?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why does Amazon use huge boxes for little items?

You’ve probably had this happen to you more than once. You get an Amazon package at the door for something small. Toothpaste, eyedrops, whatever, but it’s in a GIANT cardboard box. Why do they do this?!

The reason is actually pretty practical. When the warehouses are packing up items to be shipped out it’s like a game of Tetris with these trucks. They have a specific formula to make sure all the boxes fit in the various trucks. So it’s more about using a box that fits rather than how big or small the item that was ordered is.

Interesting!

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Florida Teen starts her own business from parents garage

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Florida Teen starts her own business from parents garage

It seems like these days with the internet and social media its easier than ever for someone to start their own business. Which is exactly what this 17 year old Florida girl did in a field you might not expect from a high schooler.

She has started her own auto-shop out of her parents’ garage! She went and hired five other girls to help with everything and named it “Riley’s Rebuilds”.  They take carburetors which people mail in, rebuild them, fix them up and then ship them back to the owner. They have even figured out business hours after school gets out so it doesn’t infringe on their education. Then they undercut the price so they are much cheaper than most real shops. Smart!

These girls are definitely future business owners.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: How Much Exercise Does It Take to Burn Off a Pumpkin Spice Latte?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: How Much Exercise Does It Take to Burn Off a Pumpkin Spice Latte?

Now that we’re a week into October you’ve the pumpkin spice mania is in full swing. You’ve probably had a few PSL’s by now. While delicious, they are also dangerous when it comes to the calories count. So how much do you have to work out after having one to burn it all off?

Let’s start with the smallest size at Starbucks, a tall. The “healthiest” version with nonfat milk and no whipped cream is going to require a 1.6 mile jog to burn off all those cals.

Now, if you want to go all out and go full pumpkin crazy with the biggest version? A Venti with whole milk and whipped cream…. get ready for a 4.6-mile jog to get rid of all that. Or you could also do 54 minutes of burpees. Ouch.

Is the PSL really worth it? You can be the judge.
