TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Bakery Worker helps mom avoid birthday disaster for 3-year-old

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Bakery Worker helps mom avoid birthday disaster for 3-year-old

Residents of Florida are still recovering from Hurricane Ian and one of the hardest hit areas, Fort Meyers, has been struggling to get back to normal. One thing people forget about is all the small businesses that have been affected. Whether it’s their storefronts being flooded out or just not able to get shipments for the last few weeks.

One example is this story of a mom in Fort Meyers who was looking to buy a birthday cake for her 3-year-old daughter’s birthday. All the grocery stores and bakeries were out of cakes. Luckily she came across one bakery worker who went out of her way to find a simple cake they had in one of their freezers and a leftover tiara. She scrapped together a cake for the little girl who ended up loving it.

Here’s the photo of all of them with the cake. So cute!

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why do passports only come in certain colors?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why do passports only come in certain colors?

I always thought it might be cool to have a colorful looking passport. Maybe a neon green… or Pink would be popular. But there is a reason why there are only 4 colors they come in. Dark shades of Red, Green, and Blue. The reason being that these darker colors look more official and if they get dirty over the years from all the traveling it’s not a noticeable.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Who came up with Taco Tuesday?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Who came up with Taco Tuesday?

The stars have finally aligned and let National Taco Day and Taco Tuesday fall on the same day. Very exiting. I plan to eat all the tacos tonight.

But who first came up with the phrase “Taco Tuesday”? There is a bit of drama surrounding it actually.

A taco chain in the Midwest called Taco John’s claims that they first used the term and registered it as a trademark in 1989. Ever since then they have fired off more cease and desist letters than chalupas to anyone who dares to use the phrase. But many people have proved that the term has been used well before Taco John’s started using it.

Enjoy your tacos tonight everyone. Extra guac please!
