South Norwalk always seemed to me like the perfect setting for a Christmas movie or winter wonderland. I lived there for a few years and always thought that. Now, they are doing exactly that with their first ever SONO Holiday Extravaganza this Sunday November 20th from 3pm-7pm. Seems like the perfect after party once you leave the Stamford Downtown parade.
Here is all the info on what’s happening:
What: Mayor Rilling and the Transportation, Mobility and Parking Team invites the community to Norwalk’s first-ever SoNo Holiday Extravaganza, sponsored by the Norwalk Parking Authority and Laz Parking.

he event will include Santa arriving from the rooftop of SoNo 50, a tree lighting ceremony and a Hanukkah celebration. It will also have fun activities for children, such as a merry-go-round, a petting zoo, horse-drawn carriage rides, games, a DJ, a Roton Middle School Chorale performance, and more!
This weekend is the Stamford Downtown Parade Spectacular. We hope to see you there with your signs from the Star float!
Every parade has the giant helium balloons, but how do they deflate them after the parade?
For the Macy’s Thanksgiving parade it’s done behind the Macy’s store on 7th Avenue through a process that involves unzipping them to let out the helium, lying on top of the balloon, and then rolling up the balloon to squeeze out any remaining air. Which sounds like how I deflate my air mattress ha ha.
They say that a if the people doing it are really good they can deflate a balloon in 15 minutes or less. Wow!

With our Star Food Drive happening today at ShopRite in Milford seemed like a good day to figure out what the difference is between a grocery store and a supermarket.
Grocery stores tend to have mainly a focus on food and beverages. While Supermarkets in addition to food and drink typically give a little more shelf space to other items like household products, personal care products, cookware, and small kitchen appliances, etc… more than a grocery store would.
If you’re driving through Bridgeport lately you might notice some colorful artwork that catches your eye in various parts of the city.
Bridgeport Downtown Special Services District (DSSD) celebrated the recent Bridgeport Art Trail weekend by highlighting the success of its collaboration with the City of Bridgeport, local and regional artists, and Downtown Bridgeport property owners to produce a series of public murals. The Bridgeport DSSD unveiled six new murals over the Bridgeport Art Trail weekend, which are all pretty amazing.
You can see the murals and all the locations here if you want to see them in person up close.
