TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Tattoos without the whole pain part

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Tattoos without the whole pain part

I don’t have any tattoos. I always thought about maybe getting one but just couldn’t think of anything good enough to have permanently inked on my body. Plus the whole pain aspect of it. But that part could be a thing of the past now thanks to a group of scientists at Georgia Tech.

They have invented what seems to be a “painless tattoo”. Instead of a needle, there’s a patch with thousands of microscopic needles which are so small you can’t even feel them.  Those needles are made of the tattoo ink.  All you do is just stick it on, let the ink soak in, and you’ve got a permanent tattoo with no pain.

Unreal! This might be enough to make me actually get one.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why is Google spelled that way?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why is Google spelled that way?

Today is the 25th anniversary of google.com being registered as a domain on September 15th 1997. Google has celebrated their birthday at all different times but this was when the site was actually created.

The original name was supposed to be Google at all. It was actually “googol” which is a term that means a really, really long number. 1 followed by 100 zeros.

Someone spelled it wrong and the name we all know just stuck.

Happy 25 Google!

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why can we see the moon out during the day sometimes?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why can we see the moon out during the day sometimes?

If you looked up at the blue sky this morning you could clearly still see the moon most of the morning. Even by 10-11am. But why is the moon way more visible in the day at times?

It mostly has to do with the position of the moon being in the exact right spot during the day to be able to see the light reflected against the blue sky.

When we see the moon during the day it’s because the moon is in the right spot in the sky, above the earth’s horizon, and it’s reflecting enough light to be as bright, or brighter, than the sky.”

Stars are nowhere near as bright as the blue sky during the day. But the moon is as bright as the reflected sunlight that’s why we can sometimes see it.
