TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: These students welcome teacher back to school with crazy gift

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: These students welcome teacher back to school with crazy gift

It’s back to school season and lots of teachers and students have been dreading the first day. Unless you’re this group of kids out in L.A.

A group students in this one school spent all summer raising money to get their math teacher a new car. He’s been commuting to school on his scooter since he currently did not have a car. Six miles round trip. After a summer of fundraising events they managed to come up with enough to buy him a new Mazda. Not only that they also paid for the first year of insurance and gas! All and all about $30,000.

To surprise him they staged a fake assembly and revealed the car to him.

What a way to kick off the school year!

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Where did the movie phrase “the silver screen” come from?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Where did the movie phrase “the silver screen” come from?

Maybe you were at the movies over the weekend or heading there this weekend to see something on “The Silver Screen”. but where did that term even come from anyway?

When people first started going to movie theatres at the time called “the pictures” in the 1910s, the actual movie screens were coated with reflective metallic paint. This would make them into a silver surface to better display the projected images of the film. Thus, the term “the silver screen” was born and we still use it to this day.

Have fun at the movies whatever it is you’re seeing. And eat the most popcorn.
