TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Woman trying to run 102 marathons in 102 days

The Boston Marathon is happening today up in Boston, MA. Anyone running a marathon should be celebrated for what an accomplishment it is to finish. But for this one woman it’s just one of many she will be running to reach her goal.

Jacky Hunt-Broersma from Arizona is on a quest to run 102 marathons in 102 days. Today’s Boston Marathon is her 92nd on the list. 10 more to go!

Not only is this a crazy adventure she on… she’s doing it all with ONE LEG! Jacky lost the lower half of her left leg below the knee to cancer. She now runs with a prosthetic. This sure isn’t slowing her down to break this record though. If she reaches 102 it will be the world record for all female runners, not just amputees.

Go get ’em Jacky!

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: When and Why did marathons start?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: When and Why did marathons start?

Today was the 126th running of the Boston Marathon. When and why did people start running Marathons anyway?

According to the legend throughout history, a messenger in Greece had to run roughly 25-miles from a town named Marathon to Athens to announce a Greek military victory.

Once he arrived and gave the message he immediately dropped dead. As a tribute to him, the Marathon became a part of the modern Olympic Games in 1896. The changed the distance to the current 26.2 miles after the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris. Which it has been every since.

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Woman uses the power of TikTok and t-shirts to celebrate her retired firefighting Dad

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Woman uses the power of TikTok and t-shirts to celebrate her retired firefighting Dad

I love gifts that are super thoughtful like this.

This guy in Iowa retired last fall after spending 38 years as a firefighter. To celebrate his daughter wanted to do something really special for him. She decided to reach out to fire departments in all 50 states to send t-shirts so she could make a quilt for him as a gift. She posted it on her TikTok and the video went crazy viral. To the point that she’s already received over 100 shirts and other items.

She said the hardest part was trying to keep it a secret because of how much her story was getting shared.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: How is it determined when Easter Sunday is celebrated?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: How is it determined when Easter Sunday is celebrated?

As big of a holiday Easter is, most people don’t know how it’s determined which Sunday Easter will fall on each year.

Here is how they figure it out. It has to do with the moon. It always falls on the first Sunday AFTER the first full moon…  AFTER March 21st.

A fun tidbit for this year is there will be PINK full moon this weekend. You can see if you look up in the sky tonight and tomorrow.

Happy Easter!
