TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Family surprises grandmother with priceless gift leading to her incredible reaction

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Family surprises grandmother with priceless gift leading to her incredible reaction

It’s always tough to buy gifts from parents and grandparents. Most times it feels like they have it all so what do you get to truly surprise them? How about something like what this family did…

They completely surprised their grandmother by giving her one of the pews from the church she grew up going to most of her life. It is where she got married and her daughter got married their too. Recently they had to demolish the church, but they saved one of the pews for her.

What a great idea! The video of her reaction is the best… you can see it here

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: The U.S. Navy uses WHAT to navigate their periscopes?!

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: The U.S. Navy uses WHAT to navigate their periscopes?!

If you’ve ever heard the rumor that the U.S. Navy uses video game controllers in their submarines, it turns out it’s true!

Back in 2018 the US Navy equipped all their submarines with Xbox360 controllers. The real control sticks for the periscopes are VERY expensive and really difficult to learn how to use. So instead they decided to install the Xbox controllers since they were much cheaper. But also, the periscope operators are very familair with playing Xbox so they can easily transfer those skills to operating the periscope.

See! Don’t let anyone tell you video games are a waste of time. It could pay off one day.

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Connecticut Tattoo artist leaves lasting impact on more than the skin

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Connecticut Tattoo artist leaves lasting impact on more than the skin

For over two decades now a woman named Carolyn Hawkins has been leaving an impact on people’s skin with her tattoo skills. Now she’s helping the fight against one of the most misunderstood diseases in the world.

For the last 4 years Carolyn has been helping the fight against Lyme Disease. Every February she donates funds from her shop in Shelton to the Lyme Warrior Project as part of the Ink to End Lyme program.

Shelton Tattoo Shop was one of 22 tattoo locations around the country who took part this year.

Not only do they raise money for the cause but also awareness for a disease many people don’t know much about. Back in 2020 before the pandemic they took in over $20,000.

Great work!

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: What really happens if you accidently forget payment and can’t pay your bill at a restaurant?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: What really happens if you accidently forget payment and can’t pay your bill at a restaurant?

We’ve all been there before… you get to the end of a meal when you’re at a restaurant and suddenly realize you left your wallet or purse at home. Oh no… are they going to make you wash the dishes?! Most likely not.

What usually happens as long as your honest about it is the manager will allow you to leave and come back with the payment. Some places will allow you to call back with the credit card info over the phone, others might as you to leave some kind of collateral so they know you’ll return to pay.

Either way, make sure you double check that you have money before you leave the house so you don’t have to worry about this problem.
