Twice a year we as a country have the debate of whether we should still be turning our clocks back and ahead an hour. The growing majority of people seem done with it and want it to just be light out longer all year. I’m firmly in that camp, especially now that I have young kids and the sleep schedules are thrown completely out of whack every time.
But have we ever tried to get rid of it? The answer is yes. One time. Back when Nixon was President in 1974-75 they tried to do away with it for 16 months. It lasted that long until parents went crazy because half the year the kids were spending the first half of their school day in darkness. To which I say… who cares?! You’re inside, just turn the lights on.

Meet Rocky, a dog who was truly given a second chance at life. This beautiful one-year-old pit/boxer mix was seized by animal control after being found extremely emaciated and weighing in at only 30 lbs. Since he was rescued, Rocky is now weighing a healthy 55 lbs. and is ready for his new beginning!
Despite the neglect he endured, Rocky adores people and being by your side, whether it be outside in the yard or on the couch! His big smile and wagging tail is guaranteed to light up any room. He loves everyone he meets, including other dogs. Rocky has a nice medium energy level but is also very much a clumsy and silly puppy. He would benefit from basic training.
Rocky is a very good boy and is working hard on crate training and is nearly house trained. He is easily corrected and is very food motivated – he already knows “sit” and is currently learning “wait.” He has demonstrated a bit of separation anxiety so adopters not gone long hours are highly preferred. Due to his size, Rocky would be best in a home with dog savvy children, preferably 10 years and up. A fenced yard is required and it must be 6ft. or higher because he’s a jumper.
His adoption fee is $350 and Rocky is up to date on vaccines, microchipped, heartworm negative, and neutered. If you are interested in adopting this handsome hunk, please complete the application at form.jotform.com/200883908893166. For questions, email [email protected]

New Haven is considered by many as the birthplace of American pizza. Back in the early 20th century pizza was always delivered. It started to become really popular in the 1910s. People would buy it on the street and deliver it to factories and famer’s markets.
Frank Pepe in New Haven is credited as the inventor of the first cardboard pizza boxes to make the deliveries a little easier. He would package them in cardboard boxes from The National Folding Box Company located locally near the pizzeria.
Next time you order a pizza that’s delivered nice and hot to your door you can thank Mr. Pepe.
