TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Connecticut’s last minute connection to this year’s Winter Olympics

The Winter Olympics in Bejing are coming up in February. One of the biggest events, Ice Hockey, now has four players with Connecticut ties. Here are the four players who found out on Thursday night they will be competing on the U.S. Olympic hockey team…

  • Goalie Strauss Mann from Grennwich. Went to Brunswick School in Greenwich and University of Michigan.
  • 2 Former Yale hockey players, Brian O’Neill & Kenny Agostino.
  • Aaron Ness who played for Bridgeport Sound Tigers back in 2010-2015. He plays for Providence Bruins now.

They had scramble to put together a Team USA Hockey squad for this year’s games after the NHL announced in December that the league the player’s union agreed to opt out of the Beijing Games because of COVID-19 concerns.

Go Team USA! Go Connecticut!

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why do banana flavored products never taste like real bananas?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why do banana flavored products never taste like real bananas?

Jellybeans, yogurt, candy, anything that is “banana flavored” for some reason doesn’t taste anything like real bananas. Why?

The reason is kind of crazy actually. The artificial banana flavoring used in products is based on a type of banana that was wiped out by a plague in the 1950s. So it literally doesn’t exist anymore. Next time you have something banana flavored, savor that flavor because it’s from another life.
