TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Kids in Florida classroom see snow for the first time ever

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Kids in Florida classroom see snow for the first time ever

I realize with this blizzard coming in this weekend no one here in the northeast wants to hear about people who are bummed they’ve “never seen snow” before… but this story is really cute and fun.

An elementary school teacher in Florida had two kids in her class who had never seen snow in person. So she called her sister who lives in Kentucky and asked if she could pack a box with ice and overnight ship a snowman to her in Florida. The sister did it and it totally worked! She was able to show the kids their first snow ever. How fun is that?!

Now, if the forecast is correct and we get as much snow as they’re saying this weekend here in Connecticut…. these kids are more than welcome to take some of ours too.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: What is a “Bomb Cyclone”?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: What is a “Bomb Cyclone”?

With this crazy snow storm coming this weekend you’ve probably seen and heard this term a lot over the last week… Bomb Cyclone. But what is it?

A bomb cyclone is basically a winter hurricane. It is created by a process known as bombogenesis. Both really fun things to say… but not so fun to be in.

This is a lot of “weather speak” but A bomb cyclone occurs when a midlatitude cyclone rapidly intensifies, dropping at least 24 millibars (measurement they use for atmospheric pressure) over 24 hours. This tends to happen when a cold air mass collides with a warm air mass, such as air over warm ocean waters. That whole processes is called bombogenesis, which creates what is known as a “bomb cyclone”.

Good luck everyone. Bring on the snow!

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: 90-year-old couple finds lost wedding ring 30 years later

It’s one thing to lose something and get it back. But imaging going 30 YEARS without finding something that means so much to you.

That’s what happened with this story down in Alabama. A guy was renovating a home he just bought and while ripping up the carpet and floors he found wedding ring. Figuring it probably belonged to the previous owners he contacted the couple. Sure enough it was a ring they had lost 30 years ago! Now in their 90s they were very happy to finally get it back.

I feel like this calls for a renewal of their vows right?!
