You’ve probably noticed all the yellow/green/gray boxes flooded your Facebook and Twitter feed recently. It’s called Wordle. The new puzzle gam everyone is either obsessed with or super annoyed by. No matter how you feel about the actual game the story behind it is pretty interesting.
Wordle is a website that the daily word-guessing game lives on. It was created by a British site called Power Language. There has been a little confusion though, because there is also an app in the app store with the same name. So now this old app that’s also called Wordle has gotten TONS of downloads in just a week. About 200,000.
It’s a completely different thing and has nothing to do with the game everyone is playing. But the guy who owns that old app has decided it feels wrong to profit off people’s mistake, so he said he will be donating all the money that’s coming in! It’s been about $2,000 so far and just keeps getting higher every day.
At the end of the month he will reveal the total and donated all to charity.
Today is National Popcorn Day. You’ve probably heard before how it’s a low calorie “healthy snack”. This is mostly true if you eat it plain. Sure, popcorn is considered a low-calorie snack if it’s just a cup of plain, air-popped popcorn it only contains 31 calories. As a comparison a serving of potato chips is about 139 calories.
Now, if you start adding on all the good stuff… butter, salt, and other toppings that low cal goes right out the window. But it’s National Popcorn Day so go wild!
A lot of times the real magic of Disney and Disney World are all the things they do behind the scenes.
For example… every holiday season Walt Disney World has these massive gingerbread house displays up in the park. Once the holidays come and go what they do to get rid of all the gingerbread is a magical idea.
There is a video about what happens. Basically instead of tossing it in the trash, they dismantle it all and take it to a farm where they let bees eat it. Apparently bees love gingerbread. Who knew?!
It’s happened to everyone, you get a gift that’s a ring or necklace only to find out it turned all your skin green. But what makes a cheap or fake piece do this anyway?
This happened when the metals in the jewelry react with the acidity of your skin. Most of the time the culprit copper in that’s in the piece of jewelry. The acids in your skin can cause the copper to corrode, which then produces copper salts that are normally blue/green looking. That explains the green skin.
Keep this in mind when your Valentine’s Day shopping next month fellas. Go for the REAL stuff, not the fake cheapo one.
What do men wish that other men would stop doing? It was a topic that went viral, but when Anna asked the guys on the show what they wished for, it was certainly eye opening. Catch up with the podcast and let us know what you wish men would stop doing in the comments!
After experimenting with different crocheting techniques, Anna succeeded with a loom and created a hat! Now, it can be yours and all the proceeds go to an animal rescue organization. If you would like to bid on it send Anna an email with your bid at [email protected] by 10pm tonight!
