We are getting into that time of year when the lakes and ponds freeze over for the winter. Always fun to skate, play, and slide on them. As long as you take precaution and be VERY careful for your safety.
Luckily for this poor dog in Spain recently there were two cops nearby when he feel into the broken ice. They both dove into the freezing-cold lake to save the dog. Someone nearby got it all on video too! Incredible. Glad the pup is home safe.

One of the most festive drinks this time of year… delicious eggnog. But where did that silly name come from?
Eggnog is a beverage that originated back in medieval Britain times. They would make it as a hot, milky, ale-like drink made with egg and figs. Legend has it that the “nog” comes from “noggin,” meaning a wooden cup they would serve it in, or “grog,” which was the name for a strong beer or rum which they would add to the drink.
By the late 18th century, the combined term “eggnog” stuck and spread around the world as the go-to name.
I may have to pour an eggnog this weekend in a wooden noggin’!

On this year’s card, they will write that this is their last year sending cards because of the unreliability of the post office and high costs. His wife, Meghan, says that sounds obnoxious. Nobody should be without a home during the holiday season. This story shows how nice some people can be to people the barely know.
A woman who was working at a Dunkin’ Donuts in Cincinnati was recently evicted from her home. She’s a mother of 3 kids so this was especially hard on the whole family. Then one of her regular customers who comes in to that Dunkin’ every day found out about her situation. After working together with several groups in the community they were able to get the family a new apartment just in time for Christmas. They also furnished the whole thing for them. How great is that?!
Now that they have a fully furnished home, her and the kids couldn’t be more thankful to be enjoying a Merry Christmas this year…. at home.
It’s that time of year, we’ve all heard the song “please bring us some figgy pudding… please bring us some figgy pudding…” but what exactly is figgy pudding? Would I even want it?
It actually does sound kind of tasty. It’s a rich boiled pudding cake made with flour, suet, figs, and other dried fruit. Some people put rum or brandy in it too.
Here’s a guy making it… looks easy to bake too. Maybe this is the year I try it out!
