TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD! How one man’s heart surgery turned into a cash windfall

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD! How one man’s heart surgery turned into a cash windfall

Sometimes if you living well you have a bad luck moment quickly turn into good luck. Like this story about a guy from Massachusetts who had open heart surgery in November.

While he was in the hospital recovering a friend sent him a Get Well Soon card with a scratch off lottery ticket in it. The guy scratched it and hit for $1 million!

The even crazier part? The ticket was one of those crossword games and you had to spell out 11 words. The last word he revealed was “Heart”. I have the goosebumps just typing this. What a great story.

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD! College uses peanut butter to help students and the community in creative way

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD! College uses peanut butter to help students and the community in creative way

We’ve all been there before… having unpaid parking tickets that just pile up. It’s especially hard when you’re in college and have no money.

This one school, New Mexico State, has decided to get creative with this issue. They are giving students with unpaid parking tickets a break for a week. If they drop off five jars of peanut butter for a local food pantry, their fines will be waived. What a smart idea!

The idea has been such a hit that the school is already planning to do it again at the end of their spring semester next year.

Love it.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: What is Omicron and how do you pronounce it?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: What is Omicron and how do you pronounce it?

As you have most likely heard by now there is a new COVID-19 variant, which now been detected here in the U.S. out in California. The name is a little strange though, Omicron. It was named after the 15th letter of the Greek alphabet. When it comes to how to pronounce it, there’s multiple ways. Here’s what I’ve found:

Both “AH-muh-kraan” and “OH-muh-kraan” are fine . . . the Oxford Dictionary also includes “o-MIKE-ron” . . . and in classical Greek, it was pronounced with the second syllable sounding like “me.”

I’m hoping we won’t have to be saying this at all for much longer… fingers crossed.
