MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Where did the term “freelancer” come from?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Where did the term “freelancer” come from?

Freelancer is a popular job nowadays. But where did the term come from in the first place?

It goes back to the early 1800s in medieval times. a Freelancer was originally a title given to a self-employed, sword-wielding mercenaries… “free” “lancers”. They would often be hired to fight or protect someone who paid them the most. Riding on horseback with a sword.

Freelance work is much less violent usually now, but the term has stuck.

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: One company makes big move to help 11 veterans in a big way

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: One company makes big move to help 11 veterans in a big way

There are many great ways you can thank a veteran. Whether it be today on Veteran’s Day or any other day of the year.

This one business, the mortgage group Veterans United, just gave 11 homes to 11 vets. They chose veterans who have gone above and beyond to give back to their communities even more after they’ve served the country.  They chose 11 homes because of the date today for Veteran’s Day… 11/11/2021.

Truly a life changing gift for people. Great story.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why is Veteran’s Day on November 11th?

Today is Veteran’s Day. Thank you to all the men and women who have served for our great country.

Veteran’s Day is always on the 11th for a good reason. The date marks the anniversary of the formal agreement that officially ended World War One back on November 11th, 1918.
