TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: An ironic story of coincidence, connection, and a random nightstand

This story has it all. Irony, coincidence, connections and how you just never know when something is going to come back into your life in the most random of ways.

A woman in San Diego recently bought an old nightstand at a thrift store. When she got it home she found a note inside one of the drawers that looked like a child’s handwriting. It had phone numbers and a name written on it. One of the numbers was her parents’ old house PHONE NUMBER and her mom’s cell number from 15 years ago! She thought that was odd so started to research the name on Facebook. She eventually figured out that it was her sister’s friend’s nightstand when they were a kid. How funny it is that!?

She made a TikTok video of the whole thing which as started to go viral.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Where was the famous sky & grass Windows XP desktop photo taken?

You probably used to stare at it every day when you got to work. That default desktop photo on Windows XP. You know the one… with the sky and grass. But where was the actual photo taken?

The famous photo is from Napa Valley, California. The funny part is that only looks like it does in the photo because an insect infestation had wiped out all of the grapevines in the area. Leaving that sprawling grass look.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Where did the idea for Silly String come from?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Where did the idea for Silly String come from?

You’ve probably played with it as a kid or cleaned it up after your kids used it… Silly String. It’s such an odd product but people love it. Who was it created by and why? It’s a funny story actually…

It happened back in the 1970s when a chemist was trying to invent an instant spray on cast for the medical world. Instead… the product morphed into the toy we all know today as Silly String. You will no doubt see some at any fireworks you go to this year for 4th of July or at all the various parades in Connecticut. Just be sure to make your kids clean it all up after.
