TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: A lost dog always finds its way back home

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: A lost dog always finds its way back home

You’ve probably heard the phrase “a lost dog always finds its way back home” but this story proves it to be true!

If you’re a dog owner you understand how scary fireworks can be for dogs. Last weekend down in South Carolina a dog got spooked by the fireworks and ran off. Her owners were driving around for HOURS looking for her. Turns out they could’ve just stayed home because she managed to find her way back to the house around 3:00 in the morning, when she even rang the doorbell! What a smart pup.

Let this also be a cautionary tale to be careful with your fireworks this weekend. There are a lot of dogs who will be hiding under beds and we don’t want them running away,.

Everyone’s favorite hot dog eating holiday is upon us. As you get ready to eat your weight in tubed meat let’s ponder this hot dog mystery shall we?

How many hot dogs will America eat this 4th of July?

According to the National Sausage and Hot Dog Council (NHDSC), (yes, that’s a real organization come to find out) Americans are expected to eat 150 million hot dogs over the next 4 days. This is all part of an estimated 7 billion that are expected to be eaten during the entire 2021 summer season from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

That’s A LOT of dogs. Most of them will be consumed by Joey Chestnut on Sunday in Coney Island. Yum.

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Mom nails her job interview in cutest way ever

Anyone who’s been on a job interview that they really want knows you need a little bit of luck or outside karma sometimes to get the gig.

That was the case with this story of a mom in St. Louis. She had a job interview lined up but didn’t have anyone to watch her toddler.  Luckily the company was okay with it and told her to bring him along. Not only did she bring him she got super creative and dressed him up in a suit, made him his own resumé, like he was interviewing too! And guess what? It totally got her the job. She will be able to tell her song that story the rest of his life now.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: How do fireworks get their color?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: How do fireworks get their color?

This one is a simple trip down chemistry class memory lane!

The colors in fireworks are created by the use of metal salts. The metal salt compounds produce intense colors when they are burned, which is what makes them perfect for pretty fireworks. There are a few other things in there too that make them pop like potassium nitrate, sulfur and charcoal.

Keep this in mind over the weekend when you’re “oooooooo-ing” and “ahhhhhhh-ing” at the firework shows.
