TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: People Have Been Going Tip Crazy Since The Pandemic Started

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: People Have Been Going Tip Crazy Since The Pandemic Started

Good news for anyone in the restaurant or bar industry. Apparently people have been feeling quite generous since covid started.

This one research study was done in Toronto but I’m sure it’s been the case everywhere lately. It found that people started tipping more as soon as the pandemic hit. Before Covid, the average tip for a takeout order was 16.5%.  Then last spring when everything shut down it immediately jumped to 19%. Mostly for takeout orders. During summer 2020 got as high as 22%. I would imagine it’s even higher now.

I have noticed myself tipping more over the past year too. As someone who has waited tables in the past this is great to see. Tip your servers and bartenders this weekend!

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why do apples float in water if they’re so heavy?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why do apples float in water if they’re so heavy?

It makes no sense! You drop an apple in water you’d expect it to sink with how heavy it is… but nope. Floats to the top. Here is why.

Apples are made up of 25% air. Sure there is skin, seeds, and juices too, but there is enough air to make it float. If something is more dense than water it will sink, it is less dense it will float. Apples are less dense than water, so they float! Pumpkins they same thing. Very heavy, but still float because of all the air.

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Family Finds Envelope Full Of Cash In New Car, Does The Right Thing

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Family Finds Envelope Full Of Cash In New Car, Does The Right Thing

If you’ve ever purchased used or previously owned vehicle you may have come across something in the car from the previous owners. Some sunglasses, a pack of gum, but probably nothing like what this family found.

A nine-year-old kid in Indiana found an envelope filled with $5,000 under a floormat of the new car his family had just bought last fall.  He showed his dad and they made the right call and decided to contact the previous owners to return the money. Turns out, they had lost the cash filled envelope while on a road trip a few years ago and had no idea where it went.  Just assumed it was gone forever. They were shocked when the boy and his dad returned it to them. They ended up letting the kid keep $1,000 of it as a thank you reward.

See, everybody wins in this story! Doing the right thing is always the way to go.
