Friday May 7, 2021: Mother’s Day Melody; What Does You Mom Still Do For You; Mommy Margarita

Happy Mother’s Day Weekend!  Anna is excited for a weekend full of celebration and pampering, but her husband asked if there was anything specific she would like to do.  She does have one request, she wants to go to the zoo, but she has one specific thing she wants to do when she gets there…(:30)

Every Friday, Raven’s wife Alicia calls in and gives Raven a grade based on how good of a husband he was that week!  Raven is prone to getting stye’s, he gets them all the time, but now Alicia has one and she thinks Raven is to blame!  How will this affect his grade?  (2:35)

It’s Friday.  Mother’s Day is this Sunday.  If you STILL don’t know what you’re doing yet, that’s all I need to know about you!  (6:33)

What does your mom still do for you?  Raven’s mom hold onto his birth certificate for him, and anytime something needs to be sown in Anna’s house, its time to go to Grandma’s!  But at least they can dress themselves, which is more than Producer Jon can say… (10:11)

All week long, people have been telling Anna and Raven all about what makes their mom special, and Producer Jon has been taking those emails and turning them into personalized Mother’s Day songs!  Zack wrote Anna and Raven about how great and supportive his mom Monica is, and Stacie wrote a touching testament to how tough her mom Arleen is.  Now it’s time to call them up and sing those mamas’ a Mother’s Day Melody!  And as a special surprise, Anna and Raven called their own moms’ to sing them a song too!  (21:06)

It’s a special Mother’s Day edition of Mommy’s Margarita Friday!  Every mama deserves a margarita this weekend, but some have gone above and beyond!  One mom called in with a crazy story about why she had to spend all night in an ER (don’t worry, everyone’s ok)!  (31:28)

Couples Court: Eric and Nicole’s son is 26 years old has finally moved out of the house. There have been many instances when he’s snuck back in because he still has a key. He eats their food, takes random things like tools, and shaving razors. Dad wants to change the locks, so he’s not tempted to come back all the time, to motivate him to learn how to live on his own. Mom says he’s still their son, they can’t just lock him out like a stranger! Whose side are you on?  (37:02)

James thinks he’s got what it takes to beat Raven in pop culture trivia, but he’s got to bring his A-game if he’s going to win that $400!  (44:56)

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Broadway and Music Festivals Are Coming Back

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Broadway and Music Festivals Are Coming Back

If you regret not buying tickets to that Broadway show you were dying to go pre-pandemic don’t worry… Broadway is back!

Tickets for full-capacity shows will go on sale today. The performances won’t start up until the fall though. September 14th to be exact. Mostly because the theatres and shows need time to get performers up to speed, create safety protocols, and allow more time for people to be vaccinated.

If Broadway isn’t your thing… music festivals are starting to make their comeback too. Tickets went on sale today for The Governors Ball which is being held this year at Citi Field in September. Billie Eilish and Post Malone are headlining along with many more over the three days.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why do cicadas make that weird loud noise?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why do cicadas make that weird loud noise?

Brace yourself… the cicadas are coming. After 17 years underground trillions of the most annoying bug on the planet are about to resurface and torture all of us. You know the ones, they look gross and make that crazy sound.

The cicada is actually singing when it makes the noise. Their internal tymbal muscles contract causing the membranes to buckle inward to produce that distinct sound. They usually do their singing in the heat of the day which is why you notice it more in the summer. The reason they do it is to mate, but also the volume of the noise repels birds. So it’s kind of a safety tactic too.

Raven’s Pleasant Paws Pet Center Pet Pals – Meet Lucy!

Raven’s Pleasant Paws Pet Center Pet Pals – Meet Lucy!

Lucy is 1 part meatloaf, 1 part cupcake, with a dash of spunk. She is perfectly content taking a daily walk and spending the rest of the day being a loaf. She wants to be near you but understands personal space. She adores kids. In fact, when her 2 legged foster siblings are late in getting to bed, she will start prancing around them to tell them she wants to get settled in! She loves her beauty rest. Her 2nd favorite activity behind napping is window shopping. Give her a low window or a glass door and she will happily watch the world go by! She is a very gentle, low maintenance excellent companion dog.

🐾 Age approximately 8 years old.
🐾 Dog friendly! She is currently living with 2 other dogs. She should have proper, slow intros to set up all dogs in the home for success!
🐾 Cats unknown.
🐾 Kid friendly! People friendly! Lucy has yet to meet someone she doesn’t love.
🐾 House-trained.
🐾 Crate trained.
🐾 Walks well on leash.
🐾 Listens well; very obedient and sweet!
🐾 Spayed, micro-chipped and up to date on vaccinations.

This is what Lucy‘s foster mom has to say about her:

Lucy loves car rides and taking little adventures on her walks. She is very loyal and will stay by your side all the time.

Lucy is very friendly and outgoing, and I believe she would fit into most homes. I believe she would fit in best with another low key dog. She likes her brisk walks daily, but also just loves relaxing by your side and is our little shadow as she loves her people. In the yard (ours is fenced in), she doesn’t wander far and will tire out after a few runs.

Overall, Lucy is a wonderful dog who is going to make a wonderful family member!

Anyone interested in adopting Lucy should submit an adoption application!

Thursday May 6, 2021: Raven Picks ‘Em; Where Did You Give Birth; Is Anna Zap Out of Line

Thursday May 6, 2021: Raven Picks ‘Em; Where Did You Give Birth; Is Anna Zap Out of Line

Engagement rings have existed for centuries for women, but what about engagement rings for men?  Would you wear one, or expect your significant other to?  What if it could also prevent infidelity?  Anna has a theory on how men’s engagement rings could be used to keep men from cheating! (:30)

It’s time to learn waaay too much about Cicadas!  All over the country, Cicada’s are emerging from the ground and they’ve got just one thing on their mind.  Anna is uncomfortable talking about it, so she got some help from Sir David Attenborough!  (3:36)

Offering friendly advice is a nice thing to do, but if you’re in a completely different line of work and you’re telling someone how to do their job, that’s all I need to know about you!  (7:27)

Are you up to date on this week’s news? If not, Anna and Raven can help!  Anna picks three crazy news stories, and Raven picks one to talk about. This week the options are; A man who has fathered 78 children, A woman harassed over her emotional support pig, and a Duck that hatched from a store-bought egg!  (10:46)

What advice would you have for someone who just turned 30?  In honor of Star Wars day earlier this week, Anna and Raven turned to one of the wisest character’s in cinema history for advice to those entering their third decade!  (13:45)

Where did you go into labor?  A woman gave birth recently on a plane to Hawaii.  Luckily everything was fine, because of three NICU nurses and a doctor who were also on the flight!  But one caller wasn’t so lucky when she started going into labor in front of her classroom!  (17:40)

Still trying to figure out a Mother’s Day gift for the mom in your life?  How about a custom made, original song?  The best part is, you don’t even have to write it yourself!  Go to Mother’s Day Melody at AnnaAndRaven.com and tell Anna and Raven what makes your mom special.  Producer Jon will then write a brand new original song all about your mom.  Today, Frances and her mom Becky are on the show to hear the premiere of Becky’s custom-made Mother’s Day Melody!  (28:41)

Is Anna Zap out of line?  Anna’s daughter Hayden had a big win at her soccer game over the weekend.  10 to 1!  But Hayden had a difficult question after the game, and Anna isn’t sure if she said the right thing…(32:40)

Couples Court: Luke and Julia’s teenage daughter’s grades have been slipping in school, and dad proposed that they threaten to stop bringing her to track practice and track meets for school if she doesn’t start taking her academics more seriously. Mom thinks he is going way too far! She loves track and does very well in it. It might be the determining factor as to what college she will go to after High School. Dad says if she loves it so much, then she will start to bring her grades back up so she can continue doing what she loves. Whose side are you on?  (40:09)

Raven is picking up steam and after two victories in a row the jackpot is up to $300!  Does Tom have what it takes to beat him at pop culture trivia and prevent another winning streak?  (46:47)
