TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: An Unusual Animal Rescue In Branford

This is a good story for all the animal lovers.

Tuesday morning a stranded horse was saved from the side of the Branford River. It had got stuck in the mud in the marsh area. Some people say it struggling and called the police. Branford Police, fire, and Animal Control arrived on the scene to help the horse. It was a fantastic community effort by everyone to save the horse who came out of it uninjured.

Maybe they should enter him in the Preakness this weekend to continue the good mojo!

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Who invented the stethoscope? and why?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Who invented the stethoscope? and why?

I thought of this Mundane Mystery the other day as my 2-year-old daughter was running around the house “checking” us all with her toy stethoscope. It’s such an odd tool. Who invented it and why does it look so odd?

The person who invented the tool was a guy named Rene Laennec. He was a French doctor in the late 1700s. The reason he came up with the idea was because he didn’t feel comfortable putting his ear directly on women’s chests when he was doing their checkup. The stethoscope made it so he could be a safe distance away while not feeling weird.

This is all you’re going to think of the next  time you have a doctor’s appointment. Ha ha

What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever been asked in a job interview?  You expect to hear questions about your work history, your habits, even your hobbies, but Anna never expected the question she saw in this tweet!  (:30)

What is the one thing you would never do?  A study asked several people who did not want to take the vaccine what it would take for them to get it.  The most common answer, surprisingly, was money.  But Anna couldn’t believe how much money it would take to convince them!  (4:01)

What would you do if you caught your neighbor letting their dog go to the bathroom on your lawn?  Anna’s husband sent her a video from their Ring camera of a woman letting her dog go #2 and just leaving it there!  She didn’t even try to clean it up!  And now Anna has a decision to make.  Does she post the video and try to call this person out?  (11:52)

Having responsible chaperones at school proms and dances are a necessary part of making sure the kids have a fun, safe time.  But if you’re signing up as a chaperone just so you can do THIS, that’s all I need to know about you!  (19:35)

Are hot tubs gross?  Raven went to a hot tub party over the weekend, and it didn’t take long for things to get super weird!  (23:02)

Have you ever seen a professional athlete do something amazing and thought to yourself, “yeah I could do that”?  DK Metcalf from the Seattle Seahawks ran the 100m dash and almost qualified for the Olympic Track Team!  It made Anna and Raven wonder how hard the 100m dash really was.  Obviously they weren’t going to do it themselves though, that’s what Producer Jon and Producer Sean are for! (29:47)

Can you think like a stranger?  Anna and Raven have an Amazon Echo to give away, and all you have to do to win is answer five crazy Mother’s Day themed questions!  If your answers match a stranger that Producer Jon interviewed, you win the prize (33:45)

Couples Court: Rob and Jill live in an apartment building. The family that lives directly above them has asked him to stop smoking on the balcony because the kids do their homework out there and all the smoke is billowing up to them. He thinks this is an obnoxious request and refuses, his girlfriend says that the kids are young, just go downstairs to the main entrance or grassy area to smoke. She won’t let him smoke in the apartment either. Whose side are you on?  (36:55)

Raven is on a roll and the jackpot for Can’t Beat Raven is up to 600!  Can Alice beat him in pop culture trivia and claim the prize? (43:51)

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: TV News Crew Saves Stolen Dog While Doing Segment

Talk about crazy odds. what are the chances that while reporting on a stolen dog story, the TV news crew comes across the person who stole the dog while DOING the segment?! Pretty good apparently if you ask this Massachusetts news crew.

That’s exactly what went down as they were covering a story about a stolen dog on Saturday. They suddenly happened to see a guy walking the dog that fit the description, confronted him, called the cops, and got him arrested. Wow! Great work news team. They should all get a bonus this month.

MUDANE MYSTERIES: Why are hotel towel and sheets always white?

MUDANE MYSTERIES: Why are hotel towel and sheets always white?

Now that things are starting to open up a bit more and people are traveling again you’re probably going to be spending more time in hotel rooms this summer. One thing you’ll notice is how the towels and sheets are normally always white. Why is that?

The main reason is that white gives off a sense of cleanliness making the bed and room feel fresh. They also give an impression of luxury even if it’s not a high end hotel. There is also a more practical reason. Doing the laundry. Think about it… if all the bed linens, towels, and any other dirty laundry can all be washed together because it’s all white. They don’t have to worry about any colors bleeding together.

You will 100% think of this the next time you check into that hotel room.
