TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Family Finds Envelope Full Of Cash In New Car, Does The Right Thing

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Family Finds Envelope Full Of Cash In New Car, Does The Right Thing

If you’ve ever purchased used or previously owned vehicle you may have come across something in the car from the previous owners. Some sunglasses, a pack of gum, but probably nothing like what this family found.

A nine-year-old kid in Indiana found an envelope filled with $5,000 under a floormat of the new car his family had just bought last fall.  He showed his dad and they made the right call and decided to contact the previous owners to return the money. Turns out, they had lost the cash filled envelope while on a road trip a few years ago and had no idea where it went.  Just assumed it was gone forever. They were shocked when the boy and his dad returned it to them. They ended up letting the kid keep $1,000 of it as a thank you reward.

See, everybody wins in this story! Doing the right thing is always the way to go.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Can a Magician’s magic tricks be trademarked?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Can a Magician’s magic tricks be trademarked?

You’ve seen all the famous magicians blow your mind before. David Blaine, Criss Angel, David Copperfield, all doing the most fascinating magic tricks right before our eyes. But can they actually protect them under law?

The answer is… not really. There is currently no copyright or patent protection on magic tricks from a legal standpoint. If a magician invents a trick anyone can try and copy it. The challenge is you have to figure out how to pull it off since as we know, magicians famously never reveal their secrets.

That being said there is still an unwritten code among in the magic world that you don’t steal tricks. Much like standup comedians.

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Commencement Speaker Surprises Graduation Class With Cash

Graduation season is here and with that comes feelings of accomplishment, excitement, and giving back in big ways.

Last Friday a telecommunications CEO named Robert Hale Jr. was giving his commencement speech at Quincy College near Boston. Shocking all the grads he announced he would give each of the 490 graduates $1,000 each. Talk about a great graduation gift huh?!  He did ask them to pay it forward by giving half of it to someone else though. Which is an even better gift! The gift of generosity. What a classy move that will inspire more good which we desperately need in the world right now.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Where did Luigi From Super Mario Bros get his name?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Where did Luigi From Super Mario Bros get his name?

Today is national brothers day. Which is certainly a made up holiday. But if you have brothers I guess you can celebrate along with some of the most famous brothers like Mario and Luigi.

Where did Mario’s famous brother get his name though? Luigi’s name is based on the Japanese word “ruiji”, which means “similar”.  This made sense for the creators because Luigi is so similar to Mario.

So there you go, next time you’re playing video games with your kids you can drop that knowledge on them.
