Tuesday, April 27, 2021: Mother’s Day Melody; Divorce Announcement; Your Ambulance Ride

Saturday Night Live has a long history of controversial guests, from actors and comedians, to political figures and world leaders!  So why does this latest guest announcement upset everyone so much?  Anna and Raven decided to investigate…(:30)

Do you want to do something special for your mom this Mother’s Day?  Anna and Raven know exactly how to make her day special!  Go to AnnaAndRaven.com and click on Mother’s Day Melody to have Producer Jon write a custom made song for your mom!  Check out the podcast for a sample of what your song might sound like!  (2:32)

Buying something on Facebook marketplace can be awkward, especially during the meet up.  But if you went through all the trouble of arranging a place to meet up, putting the item in your car and driving to meet the person, only to have them do THIS, that’s all I need to know about you!  (4:55)

Are you up to date on what’s trending?  Don’t worry, Anna and Raven have already read the entire internet, and can get you up to speed!  This morning the current trends are; Pink Supermoon, Google Maps, and Cashiers.  Why?  Anna and Raven will explain!  (8:56)

A year after the darkest days of the pandemic, everyone is relieved to feel like life is slowly returning to normal.  But was the pandemic so bad?  Anna Zap isn’t sure…(12:32)

Can you think like a stranger?  Anna and Raven have an Amazon Echo to give away, and all you have to do to win is answer five crazy questions!  If your answers match a stranger that Producer Jon interviewed, you win the prize!  (15:00)

How did you tell people about your divorce?  Did you make a big social media announcement or keep it quiet?  Nowadays it can be hard to go through a painful life change like that with everybody sharing everything online.  One caller has put off announcing anything for 6 years, and you won’t believe the reason why!  (17:38)

How you ever had to ride in an ambulance?  Anna was surprised at the number of ambulance rides that involved theme parks, but that’s nothing compared to how surprised she was at how many pregnant women called in with their stories!  (24:45)

Couples Court: Rick drives their six- and eight-year-old daughters to school in his landscaping truck every morning. They complain to mom (Jessica) all the time that they are so embarrassed. Jessica thinks he’s being petty, he can go bring them to school in their family car (she’s a nurse and already at work early in the morning) and then go home to pick up his truck. He says it adds 30 minutes to his morning commute! They can deal with the humiliation. Whose side are you on?  (35:52)

Rebecca is feeling confident that she can beat Raven in pop culture trivia!  Will his epic winning streak finally end?  (42:13)

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Family Finds Life Changing Hidden Treasure Under Floor Boards

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Family Finds Life Changing Hidden Treasure Under Floor Boards

We’ve all had that moment where you find a $20 bill or maybe a $100 in your coat pocket that you haven’t worn in a while. It’s the best feeling! But imagine you find what this family did.

A guy who works as a treasure hunter up in Massachusetts (wait, that’s a real job title?!) helped this one family search their old home for valuable items.  They came across a metal box under their floorboards that had been there since the 1950s! Inside it was $46,000 in cash. Crazy! They definitely is a hidden treasure.

If you live in an old house worth looking under that floor I guess.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Has Best Picture always been the last Award at the Oscars?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Has Best Picture always been the last Award at the Oscars?

Since the 1948 Oscars Best Picture has always been as the last award of the night. Until this year. Confusing everyone, the producers of the show decided Best Picture would happen before actress and actor categories for some crazy reason.

The only other year, since 1948, that it wasn’t the final award given was in 1971 when they gave an honorary award to Charlie Chaplin before the show ended.

Some people on the internet are speculating today that they decided to end on Best Actor because the producers assumed the award would go to the late Chadwick Boseman for his role in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom making for an emotional poignant ending to the show. Instead, none of that happened and Anthony Hopkins won for The Father. Which he was excellent in, but it made for a very awkward end to an already weird Oscar night.

What will they do NEXT year?! Maybe Best Picture to open the show?!

Anna & Rave: The Best Or Worst Thing To Happen Over The Weekend

Anna & Rave: The Best Or Worst Thing To Happen Over The Weekend

What’s the best thing that happened to you this weekend? What about the worst? Anna & Raven want to hear about both! Raven had a great family dinner with some relatives he hadn’t seen in a while, but Anna’s nice family weekend was disrupted when she accidentally did something ridiculous with her daughter’s brand new bike!

Monday: April 26, 2021: Oscar Recap; Engagement Ring Protocol; Fake Covid Card

Monday: April 26, 2021: Oscar Recap; Engagement Ring Protocol; Fake Covid Card

When a loved one passes, making a decision about what to do with their ashes can be very emotional.  Attention and care should be taken to make sure that a person’s remains are treated with respect.  Which was why Anna was shocked when she read about what one man did with his father’s ashes!  (:30)

What happened to your engagement ring when you broke up?  Jennifer Lopez and A-Rod haven split, and J-Lo is keeping the ring.  This makes it 5 total engagement rings for her, valued at almost 10 million, and rumor is she’s kept them all!  But what did you do with yours?  One caller gave theirs away, and the person who received it still has no idea where it came from!  (3:26)

Between the anti-climatic ending and the super long acceptance speeches, this years Oscars were a bit of a bust.  But one thing we can all agree on, is that Glenn Close absolutely stole the show!  Anna and Raven go over the top 3 moments from last night’s Oscars!  (10:32)

What’s the best thing that happened to you this weekend?  What about the worst?  Anna and Raven want to hear about both!  Raven had a great family dinner with some relatives he hadn’t seen in a while, but Anna’s nice family weekend was disrupted when she accidentally did something ridiculous with her daughter’s brand new bike! (14:28)

Anna hates the term “Karen”, she thinks it’s condescending.  But if you go out of your way to complain about someone’s child about something this trivial, then you’re a Karen and that’s all I need to know about you!  (22:01)

Remember how gum used to be stuck underneath every table you sat down at?  Anna and Raven was wondering if that was still the case or if humanity had evolved enough to not put disgusting pre-chewed gum all over public places!  So they spent the weekend doing some research, and the results may surprise you…  (25:50)

Did you have a fake ID?  Raven had a perfect fake ID when he was 16.  It scanned, and he even got it at the actual DMV.  But you won’t believe what happened to him the first night he used it! (28:50)

This years Oscar’s were different for a variety of reasons, and some of the changes worked, but others…not so much.  Rafer Guzman is a movie critic for Newsday and he has some insight on what worked and what didn’t at this year’s Academy Awards!  (35:19)

Couples Court: Catherine recently was going through her husband, Richie’s, phone and was flipping through his text messages. He freaked out about the lack of privacy. She wants to take it to the Couple’s Court because she believes that if you have nothing to hide, why would you care if your spouse went through your phone? He says it’s not a matter of trust, it’s just privacy. Whose side are you on? (39:11)

Nancy thinks she’s got what it takes to beat Raven in pop culture trivia!  Can she succeed and win the $3500 jackpot?  (46:21)
