TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: As The Covid-19 Vaccine Rollout Continues In Connecticut, Good News For Teens!

the COVID-19 vaccine rollout continues here in Connecticut with today (April 1) being a big day. They opened up appointments to anyone over 16 years old to schedule.

In the wake of that some more good news for people ages 12-15 came out recently. Teenagers might be able to get the Pfizer vaccine soon after it was found to be 100% effective in a new trial. Over 2,000 kids between 12 and 15 took part in the trial and no one who got the vaccine ended up getting COVID.  The 18 kids in the group who had the placebo did get it. Showing how effective it is for those ages.

Here’s to all of us staying healthy and ending this pandemic nightmare soon.

Stay well.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why do we call them “Killer Whales”?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why do we call them “Killer Whales”?

Seems like an obvious answer right? But there is somewhat of a story behind why we call Orca’s “Killer Whales”.

Orcas were given the name ‘killer whale’ by ancient sailors’ back in the day who would see groups of orcas hunting and preying on larger whale species while they were sailing the ocean. Then the name just stuck.

What’s even crazier is how deadly Orcas (killer whales) can actually be. For example when it comes to their main predators, sharks, they attack and kill them by torpedoing up into the shark’s stomach from underneath, causing the shark to explode! Insane!

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Goodwill Employee Gets Rewarded For Doing The Right Thing

TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Goodwill Employee Gets Rewarded For Doing The Right Thing

We all like to think that if put in a situation to do the right thing we would all do it. But until you are faced with making that decision you never know.

Like this Goodwill employee in Oklahoma who recently found a stack of  cash $42,000 in one of the donated sweaters she was sorting through. She decided to do the right thing and track down the person who donated the clothes and return the money to them.

Once the owner learned about his money and got it all back he rewarded her with $1,000. But she said she wasn’t doing it for a reward and that it was a good teaching moment for her 6 year old daughter about doing the right thing. But the 1,000 bucks is going to help her financially in what has been a tough year during the pandemic.

A great story all around! And remember… doing the right thing always pays off in the end.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: How do babies see the world when they’re born?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: How do babies see the world when they’re born?

I’ve often wondered this every since I became a parent. When babies are born and first open their eyes, after crying for a few minutes, what does everything actually look like through their eyes?

Many experts and doctors have said that for their first month of living, babies only see in black & white. They also only see silhouettes and are unable to focus on things right after they are born. Which makes sense I guess. They have to wait a little while until they see in color. Much like buying a TV in the mid 80s.
