TELL ME SOMETHING GOOD: Shelton Mom Helped By Caring Passerby After Car Crash On Route 15

I love stories like this. People helping people just out of the kindness of their heart. It gives you faith in humanity. This happened on route 15 in Connecticut last Friday and you might be able to help this woman find the person who came to her rescue.

Here is the full story via News 12 Connecticut

A Shelton mom is looking to identify a good Samaritan who she says stopped to help her after her car flipped over on the highway, landing on its side.

She says her car hit a patch of black ice and flipped over landing on its side on the Wilbur Cross Parkway, blocking northbound traffic at the Woodbridge-Orange line around 7 a.m.
Stunned and disoriented while suffering from a head injury, Deppe says she got out of the car and was stumbling around nearly stepping into oncoming traffic when a man came to her aid. The man got Deppe safely out of harm’s way and began treating her medically until an ambulance arrived and took her the hospital. Deppe says she wants to find that good Samaritan and thank him.
Deppe says the man’s last name was Gilbert. He was in his late 20s or early 30s, wearing military fatigues, driving a black-colored SUV and told her that he was from New York and had recently moved to Norwalk.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why do they use roman numerals to name the Super Bowl?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why do they use roman numerals to name the Super Bowl?

With the Super Bowl coming up one Sunday there’s one thing I’ve always wondered. Why do they use roman numerals to name each game? So this year is Super bowl LV (55).

The Roman numeral system was put into place originally so there would be no confusion about which Super Bowl it was. Because the actual game is always played in the year after the regular season year. For example, this year’s game technically by a calendar the “2021 Super Bowl”, but the winner will be the champion of the 2020 NFL season. Numbering the games with roman numerals avoids any confusion.

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why is it called “Grape Nut” cereal?

MUNDANE MYSTERIES: Why is it called “Grape Nut” cereal?

Ah yes, the horrible Grape-Nut cereal shortage of 2021! You may have heard the buzz lately about how you can’t find Grape-Nut cereal anywhere. The company says the product won’t be back on shelves until March 2021.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve never actually had Grape-Nuts. I have seen the box sitting next to all the other cereals I buy and it doesn’t look like grapes or nuts. So what exactly is a Grape-Nut? and why is it called that?

I went right to the source on at their website grapenuts.com and got this answer:

Grape-Nuts actually contains neither grapes nor nuts. It’s made from wheat and barley. So, why is it called Grape-Nuts? As with many great emblems in history, there are two versions of the story. One says that Mr. Post believed glucose, which he called “grape sugar,” formed during the baking process. This, combined with the nutty flavor of the cereal, is said to have inspired its name. Another explanation claims that the cereal got its name from its resemblance to grape seeds, or grape “nuts.”
